Millennial women in India seek adventure and unique experiences, with equal importance given to self-care

The changing travel habits of millennial women

  • With International Women’s Day around the corner, we analysed the travel trends of Indian millennial women over the last year. As per a report, there was a 32% growth in travel demand amongst millennial women across leisure and b-leisure trips
  • Indian women, particularly millennials, have displayed a clear inclination towards off-beat places as opposed to the conventional ones
  • 35% of these women attribute the “desire to explore new destinations with unique experiences” as a significant driver while deciding their travel destination
  • Outdoor, adventure experiences are seeing a surge of 33% signifying a growing appetite for adrenaline-pumped experiences in India’s young female travellers
  • Girl gang travel trips — bachelorettes, ‘friendversaries’ — is a rising trend among this group, witnessing 25% growth in demand
  • Solo travelling is another avenue, contributing towards 15% of total travel demand, driven primarily by millennial women seeking these trips as means of self discovery
  • With 26% growth in demand for staycations or self-care trips, women today are giving more importance to self-love, rejuvenation, and mental health
